Wooded section near ‘ski tow’ lake

After a few weeks break we are back racing in Nottingham this Saturday for the event promoted by Nottingham Clarion.  Holme Pierrepont is a venue that responds very quickly to the weather condition – it can become very muddy, but can also be dry and fast.  Last weekend it was riding very well with only a few patches of softness but race day conditions all depend on whether we get the rain at the end of the week.  The course will be familiar to those who have ridden there before with a range of flat grass next to the lake, up through the woods for fun climbs and descents and using canal paths.  It returns past the ‘village’ to find more steep banks and another wooded section.  In some areas the grass and undergrowth have been recently mown which may leave some mulchy patches.  Keep an eye on your mechs if you go offline to collect the grass.

The event is located the ‘starting’ end of the rowing lake. Access is via Adbolton Lane approx. 1km past the main entrance to the Holme Pierrepont leisure centre.

Parking

This year there is a car parking fee of £5, Serco now charge for all cars parked onsite, the race organiser does not get any of this money! Initially car parking is in the ski tow car park (500m walk to start). When this car park is full or if you have pit equipment you will be directed to park alongside the rowing lake. Please park fully on the grass to keep the road clear.

Safety

Please do not wash bikes in the lake. Parents, don’t let your children play in/near the lake. Children, don’t let your parents play in/near the lake.  There are hungry crocodiles that live there*.

See you there!
